Surfactant Improved Interface Morphology and Mass Transfer for Electrochemical Oxygen-Evolving Reaction

چکیده

The surface microstructure of a catalyst coating layer directly affects the active area, hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, high porosity is desirable especially for solid–liquid–gas three-phase catalytic reactions. However, it remains challenging to customize distribution during process. Here, we report simple strategy achieving ultrafine nanocatalyst deposition in porous structure via introducing surfactant into inks. For proof-of-concept demonstration, spin-coated nanoscale IrO2 sol with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) onto glassy carbon (GC) electrode oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Due action, deposited evenly distributed interconnected highly overlayer, which facilitates electrolyte permeation, gas bubble elimination active-site accessibility, thus affording high-performance OER alkaline media. Particularly, SDS-modified electrodes enable industrial-level high-current-density performance enhanced mass transfer kinetics. Such manipulation effective improve electrodes’ activity stability, scalable practical applications suggestive other gas-evolving electrodes.

Benchmarking hydrogen evolving reaction and oxygen evolving reaction electrocatalysts for solar water splitting devices.

Objective comparisons of electrocatalyst activity and stability using standard methods under identical conditions are necessary to evaluate the viability of existing electrocatalysts for integration into solar-fuel devices as well as to help inform the development of new catalytic systems. Herein, we use a standard protocol as a primary screen for evaluating the activity, short-term (2 h) stabi...

Relationship between polypyrrole morphology and electrochemical activity towards oxygen reduction reaction.

The relationship between the morphology of polypyrrole and their electrocatalytic performances towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline media is described; annealed polypyrrole with granular- and tubules-like morphology exhibited different catalytic efficiencies.

Proton-transfer reaction mass spectrometry.

Proton-transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) is a technique developed almost exclusively for the detection of gaseous organic compounds in air. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air have both natural and anthropogenic sources. Natural sources include the emission of organic gases by living objects, both plants and animals. A well-known example, which is discussed later in this review,...

NUMERICAL MODELING OF CHARRING MATERIAL ABLATION WITH CONSIDERING CHEMICAL REACTION, MASS TRANSFER AND SURFACE HEAT TRANSFER EFFECTS

Presently there is a little information that relates to heat shield systems.  Also this information is not certain in so many cases.  The main reason is that accurate calculations for measuring the sacrificing rate of various materials have not been obtained yet.  Additionally, the real scale test has two disadvantages: high cost and low flexibility, and for each case we must perform a new test...

Electrochemical Investigation of the Reaction Mechanism in Lithium-Oxygen Batteries

Lithium-oxygen batteries, also known as Lithium-air batteries, could possibly revolutionize energy storage as we know. By letting lithium react with ambient oxygen gas very large theoretical energy densities are possible. However, there are several challenges remaining to be solved, such as finding suitable materials and understanding the reaction, before the lithium-oxygen battery could be com...
